Orinda Ballet takes Pride in producing Story Ballet's.
   -Orinda Ballet takes pride in offering students, families and the local community bi-annual full length story ballet productions. Our first full length 2- Act, Nutcracker production was held in 2009.
   -We also take pride in providing a safe and positive performing environment for students. 

   -All students have the choice to participate in our end of term productions. We do not hold auditions but instead offer all registered students the opportunity to participate. 
    -Summer term offers lower key recital style performing demonstrations.

Performing Student & Parents/Guardians Responsibilities
    -All Students must maintain good class and rehearsal attendance in order to perform.
        Missing 3 or more unexcused classes or rehearsals or performances may have an effect on roles. 

    -Please inform Artistic Director prior to missing classes/rehearsals/performanes to make certain they are excusable. 
    -Checking Ballet Bulletin board outside studio or ballet website for rehearsals or updates. 
    -Please send artistic Director current email address via Academy's website  "Contact Form"
         Ballet newsletters and important performing information is sent to all parents via emails.

    -PLEASE NOTE "Full-Call" rehearsals are mandatory and may not be missed.
        These rehearsals allow the dancer to work with all the other dancers that they do not typically have a chance to rehearse with during their class time. These happen the last few weekends prior to performance dates. 
   - All tuitions, costume and performance fees must be paid in full in order to perform.
    -Lead roles may require private coaching lessons (at additional cost). Student will be informed if needed. 
    -Students will need to commit to all performances.
    -Performance date conflicts- Please inform Director of any conflicts. 
         Missing
 performances has an impact on a child's class dance as well as group scenes. 
    -
Failure to follow the policies stated above may limit student’s involvement in future Orinda Ballet productions.
          
   
Performance Fee
    - Students that choose to perform in our biannual productions have an additional fee, not included in class tuition. Performance fee is paid separately to: Orinda Ballet Academy.  
 The Performance fee breakdown:
1) Costume fee portion covers:
       Purchasing + shipping, embellishments, alterations, repairs, replacements+ shipping, cleaning, exchanges + shipping,                      storage, transportation, to name a few.
       Nutcracker costumes: all Rentals. 
       Spring performance: Purchased and Rentals.
Majority are purchased and taken home at completion of performances, unless noted as a rental. 

      
2) Theater and Production Fee assists to cover costs accrued in producing a full length story ballet. 
      To name a few of the costs: professional guest artist fees, backdrop, props, scenery (purchasing, building, storage, transportation, repair, cleaning, replacement), advertisement fees (online sites, banners, posters, flyers), performance music (purchase, editing), backstage hired help, performance programs, tickets, theater usage fees, videographer/ photographer, director and organizational fees. 

3) Beginning 2022 performance fee will include 1 downloadable recording of production. Audience members individually videotaping and or photographing during performances, is strictly prohibited.  Families are welcome to purchase additional downloads recordings, per set fee that year.
        

  
Saturday Full Call rehearsals
    - All Saturday Full Call Rehearsals are Mandatory- if unable to attend please contact Artistic Director- 
                roles may be affected if one or more are missed. 
     -Pre- Ballet Levels attend the last 1-2 (out of the 3) Saturday Full Call Rehearsals.
     -Ballet 1A-7 must attend all 3 Saturday Full Call rehearsals.
     -Make certain to review each weeks call times- they may vary.
     -Saturday  STUDIO DRESS REHEARSAL

              -students rehearse in their costumes & head-pieces and must have their hair in a performance bun . 
               -this is the performers chance to test out their costumes while dancing. This allows time prior
                       to performances to fix or make needed or extra alterations.            

              -Parents or Guardians are responsible in watching over & helping their child change into costumes.
              - Certain levels may have 1 or more costumes. 
              - All students are required to wear a nude colored spaghetti strapped leotard under their costumes.
                              (this helps with itchy costumes) 
               -Please bring extra straight pins for headpieces to be held in place.
               - NO MAKE-UP is Necessary

                       


Theater Full Call rehearsals
     Technical Theater Rehearsal
           - Students gather in theater auditorium- no dressing rooms used.
           -When your child's class is finished please leave auditorium quietly. Another class has begun
                       their rehearsal and needs the theater quiet to hear music and instructions.
       Theater Dress Rehearsal-  is typically held the night before opening show.
            -Is a closed rehearsal- no parents or guardians allowed in auditorium. 
                     A professional photographer is typically present taking pictures- pictures may be purchased.           
            -This rehearsal is treated as a performance-
                       All performers are in full costume, performance make-up and bun.
            -Dressing rooms are assigned by levels - all costumes located in dressing rooms. 
                        Please no eating or drinking in costumes!
            - All costumes & headpieces must be left in dressing rooms, 
                        costumes are replaced on students named labeled hanger.


                         

Performance Parent Volunteering-
-All parents are required to sign up to help volunteer at at least 1 performance
-A volunteer sign up sheet is posted outside the ballet studio next to the bulletin board at the beginning of each new term. 
-Volunteer's are responsible to help within their child's class only. 

-Volunteers help make certain all children are dressed with head pieces on tightly, and costumes are hung up  with all pieces accounted for.
